DENR 7 holds 3rd Regional Management Conference in NegOr

DENR 7 conducts its 3rd Regional Management Conference for 2019 led by newly appointed DENR 7 Regional Executive Director Paquito Melicor, Jr., DENR Assistant Secretary for Field Operations Visayas Marcial Amaro and DENR Internal Audit Service Director Rolando Castro with the full participation of all officials and Division/Unit Heads of the regional office and the field units to discuss the status of mid-year financial and physical performance of the department and plan out the set of activities and programs that is up for the 3rd quarter implementation.

The two-day conference starts today, July 25 to 26, 2019 at Sea Dream Resort in Dauin, Negros Oriental.

RED Melicor who spearheaded the DENR Central Visayas Regional Conference for the first time thanked Asec Amaro and Dir. Castro for the support they showed for DENR 7 programs and activities.

In a brief message, ASEC Amaro urged the DENR 7 key officials to stay focused on the implementation of the priority programs of the department and reiterated the importance of sustaining a good partnership and collaboration with local government units. He further added that DENR should exert more effort in engaging LGUs in its programs, projects and activities to encourage them to be at the forefront in the environmental protection efforts and enforcement of environmental laws.

 

 

After the management conference, the officials are set to visit the DENR 7 mechanized nursery facility in Banban, Ayungon, Negros Oriental.

Cease and Desist Order issued to the City Government of Tagbilaran, Bohol

DENR Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and LGU Concerns Benny Antiporda together with the newly installed Regional Director of Environmental Management Bureau Region 7 Lormelyn E. Claudio and DENR-7 CENR Officer for Tagbilaran City Ariel N. Rica have conducted today, November 20, 2019 an onsite inspection of the open dumpsite in Sitio Candait, Barangay Dampas, Tagbilaran City in Bohol Province and immediately issued a cease and desist order to stop its operation.

The order was issued by Usec Antiporda to the City Government of Tagbilaran after it was found out that the dumpsite is still operation and still accepting untreated and unsegragated garbage.  Read more...

Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary. OIWS is the country’s first wetland of international importance for waterfowl declared under RAMSAR. This wetland area is now a critical stopover for tens of thousands of migratory birds travelling the East Asian Migratory Flyway, one of the most important shorebird and water bird migratory flyways in the world.

 

Hidden Bird Paradise. Mahaba Island in Talibon, Bohol is an undiscovered bird’s paradise. Mahaba Island is part of Barangay Calituban, one of eight island barangays of the Municipality of Talibon, which is located on the northwest side of Bohol.

Counting the gains of NGP. One of the most successful and remarkable milestones of National Greening Program (NGP) in Central Visayas is the established Coffee Plantations in San Pascual, Ubay, Bohol established in 2011 by the Ubay Federated Tree Planters Association, Inc. (UFTPAI).

As of today, UFTPAI native coffee is now marketed in Ubay and all other neighboring municipalities in Bohol.
