DENR 7 Central Visayas Got 95% GEMP Spot Check Rating

DENR 7 Central Visayas got 95% or a 5-star compliance rating during the mandatory implementation of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) spot check results conducted by the Department of Energy (DOE) Visayas on May 31, 2022.

Republic Act No 11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act primary goals is to ensure a sufficient and stable energy supply, to mitigate the impact of high imported-fuel prices and to protect the environment in support of Philippine economic and social development goals.

DOE leads the Inter-Agency Energy Efficiency and Conservation Committee (IAEECC) to evaluate and approve government energy efficiency projects and to provide strategic direction in the implementation of the GEMP.

GEMP aims to reduce energy use and costs in government agencies by promoting energy efficiency technologies and practices. The program mandates a 10 percent reduction in electricity and fuel consumption for all government offices.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 7 receiver 12 LED lamps from the DOE during the general assembly of the Association of Government Information Officers 7 held at the Cebu Grand Hotel in Cebu City on March 21, 2024.
