Launching of the DENR-7 "Tayo Ang Kalikasan"

In support to the national launching of "Tayo ang Kalikasan", the DENR 7 held a press conference to promote and introduce Tayo ang Kalikasan concept and priority activities to media partners for public information.

According to DENR 7 Regional Director Gilbert C. Gonzales, Tayo ang Kalikasan will be a “People’s Stewardship Movement” aimed at mobilizing organizations to care for the environment.

"With Tayo ang Kalikasan, we shall work in forging partnerships and linkages with partner communities and stakeholders to mount relevant activities aimed at protecting the environment from destruction and degradation," he further explained.

Aside from the Tayo ang Kalikasan launching, RD Gonzales with EMB 7 Regional Director William P. Cuñado and MGB 7 Regional Director Loreto B. Alburo also provided updates on the results of foreshore area assessment and inventory in Mactan and Panglao and actions taken on some illegal quarry operations in Cebu province.


Levelling-off on the plans and programs of all the protected areas

DENR Region 7 PaSu and APaSus convened for a two-day levelling-off on the plans and programs of all the protected areas in the region. DENR 7 Regional Director Gilbert C. Gonzales in his message directed all protected area managers to set the direction in ensuring proper management of their respective protected areas.

"You are assigned as protected area managers for a reason. Make sure that you know all that is happening in your protected areas and with the guidance and directions of the protected area management boards promote and push for environmental conservation and sustainable development, " said RD Gonzales.

Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary. OIWS is the country’s first wetland of international importance for waterfowl declared under RAMSAR. This wetland area is now a critical stopover for tens of thousands of migratory birds travelling the East Asian Migratory Flyway, one of the most important shorebird and water bird migratory flyways in the world.

As of today, UFTPAI native coffee is now marketed in Ubay and all other neighboring municipalities in Bohol.
