DENR-7 BENCHMARKING TOUR IN BTLNP AND MRF

DENR Central Visayas conduct Benchmarking Tour in Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park and Material Recovery Facility in Barangay Candau-ay, Dumaguete City.

Participants are the Information Officers of DENR-PENROs, CENROs, EMB, Philippine Information Agency 7-Info Center Head Negros, the 4H Club Members of Magatas, the SK Chairman and councilor of Barangay San Antonio, Barangay Captain of Maningcao ,  people’s organization and other stakeholders.

The said activity includes environmental education on Solid Waste Management, protected areas, poster making contest, photo/video documentation to tell a story for sharing the experience in the social media platform.

Learnings on the best practices of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Barangay Candau-ay shows the usefulness of pyrolysis machines that will convert garbage into useful by-products such as hollow blocks, plastic chairs and for organic fertilizer. The City is already implementing the safe closure and rehabilitation plan of the open dumpsite which is already approved by the DENR.

They also enjoyed the beauty of nature, have fun and the cleanliness of the Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park, one of the protected area with best practices in solid waste management.
