Jose Elmer Bascos (right) of the DENR’s Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) in Batangas holds aloft his trophy as he is named recipient of an EAGLE Award for Supervising PENRO. Bascos, who is a forester, was recognized for his leadership and contributions toward successful implementation of DENR programs and activities in the province of Batangas, punctuated with mobilization of various sectors through partnerships. The EAGLE, or Environmental Awards for Governance and Leadership Excellence, was conferred by Secretary Roy A. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), led by Secretary Roy A. Cimatu (right) confers the agency’s EAGLE Award on Regional Executive Director Arleigh J. Adorable (center) in recognition of his leadership skill as head of DENR-Region X (Northern Mindanao). A forester by profession, Adorable is a Career Executive Service Officer who has served the government for nearly 38 years. He earned top honors for being innovative in strengthening field offices and ensuring that the agency’s services are delivered efficiently to the public. The EAGLE, or Environmental Awards for Governance and Leadership Excellence, was bestowed on the top contenders of five other categories or levels of DENR management during the agency’s 32nd anniversary celebration on June 14, 2019. Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu (6th from left), together with Interior Secretary Eduardo Año (3rd from left), awards the first place to DENR’s Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Ifugao for its indefatigable efforts in cleaning the Lamut River, garnering an average score of 91.5%.
