In the continued efforts of the Department to participate in environmental activities such as this, “Trees in the City” aims to raise consciousness on the benefits of trees and the importance of urban greening. It also aims to inform the general public on the different kinds of indigenous trees and its benefits to the earth. The project targets to strategically position Philippine native trees, which are temporarily planted in a recycled plastic drum / galvanized drum, located in public hospitals, healthcare centers, public markets, and public transport terminals. Each drum has unique QR codes that will lead to the information about the tree. The City assigned will serve as the nursery of the trees up until they will reach their growing capacity within the drum. Fully-grown trees will then be transferred to permanent plating locations such as mini-agro city forests, government playgrounds etc. #TayoAngKalikasan #TreesInTheCityProject #PEPPhilippines
