World Bamboo Day 2021 Celebration

In celebration of World Bamboo Day, the Key officials of DENR Central Visayas headed by Regional Executive Director Paquito D. Melicor, Jr. and EMB7 Regional Director Lormelyn E. Claudio together with Mandaue City Government headed by Mayor Jonas Cortes, ABC President and Barangay Captain of Subangdaku Ernie Manatad and in partnership of Mandaue Foam Management initiated a Bamboo Planting along the Green Corridor of Mahiga River in Subangdaku Mandaue City today, September 17, 2021.

DENR Regional Executive Director Paquito Melicor, Jr. highlighted the great improvement seen along the green corridor. Since the start of the massive river rehabilitation program, immense improvement is aesthetically has been observed today. Dir. Claudio commended Mandaue City for giving priority and focus to the beautification, protection, and rehabilitation of the environment especially focusing on the improvement of the status of Mahiga River.

In his speech, Mayor Jonas Cortes promised to continue the beautification of water bodies and he also encouraged his constituents to be involved in the environmental undertakings.

“As each community grows, it strengthens. As we come together and make Mandaue as one, we become more resilient. With each success that we achieve and with each contribution for Mandaue’s future, we can proudly say that I am Mandaue and We are Mandaue.” said Mayor Cortes.
