As the nation observes the International Coastal Clean Up (ICC) Day today September 16, 2023 pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 470, s. 2003 which declares every third Saturday of September in the Philippines as ICC Day.
 
With the collaborative efforts of DENR CENRO Tagbilaran City and the Local Government Unit of Garcia Hernandez join hands to achieve a cleaner and healthier Manaba River bringing this year's theme, "Clean Seas for Healthy Fishes".
 
The ICC day was actively participated by 573 individuals convened from different Government Agencies, LGU Garcia Hernandez, BLGUs, private entities, academe and other stakeholders.
 
A total of 265 sacks of waste disposals were collected approximately 1, 306 kls. Most of the wastes are single-used plastics, wrappers, food containers, beverage bottles, cups and others.
 
Also, separate clean up activities were done along the coastal barangays within Panglao Island.
