PENRO Siquijor leads the Coastal Clean-up and Scubasurero in celebration of the 2021 Coral Triangle Initiative
Participants from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), PNP- Maritime Group, Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Minalulan, Maria, dive shop owners joined the DENR-7 Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Siquijor Province during the coastal clean-up and scubasurero in Barangay Minalulan, Maria, Siquijor in celebration of the 2021 Coral Triangle Initiative.
Around eighty (80) kilograms of trash collected composing of bottles, tin cans, fishing nets, cloth, rubbers, plastic bottles and face masks were collected, segregated and deposited at the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) of the said barangay.
The Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) is a multilateral partnership of six countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste) working together to sustain extraordinary marine and coastal resources by addressing crucial issues such as food security, climate change and marine biodiversity.
This year’s theme "Driving Blue Recovery for a Sustainable Coral Triangle".
