Lawyers from the Legal Affairs Service (LAS) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) get their hands dirty as they clean the coastline of Barangay SipacAlmacen in Navotas City as part of the rehabilitation of Manila Bay. After the cleanup, the lawyers provided free legal assistance to the residents who participated in the activity. LAS lawyers were joined by the DENR Lawyers Guild Inc., the Integrated Bar of the PhilippinesMalabon-Navotas Chapter, and the Public Attorneys Office in Quezon City.###

Lawyers of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Legal Affairs Service hold a free legal consultation in BgySipac-Almacen in Navotas as part of the Manila Bay clean up efforts. Dubbed as “Payo pang legal ang alay ko pag basura mo linisin mo,” the consultation aims to encourage the residents of the barangay to participate in the rehabilitation of Manila Bay by joining the clean up of the Navotas-Malabon River.  For every sack of garbage collected, the residents get a coupon which will entitle them to a free legal assistance. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) with the local government unit (LGU) of General Tinio, Nueva Ecija, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Rotary Club and various stakeholders plant narra and mahogany seedlings in Upper Tabuating Reservoir Irrigation Project in Bgy Nazareth, General Tinio, NuevaEcija in efforts to save Sierra Madre. Environment Secretary Roy A. Cimatu (extreme right) holds a copy of the book, “Bamboo, The Grass of Hope” from its authors during the 1stASEAN Bamboo Congress held in Iloilo City on August 12-16, 2019. The book is about the different uses of bamboo and the processing technologies available to maximize its use. Cimatu is considering the use of bamboo over traditional hardwood to eliminate the cutting of tress which would help increase the country’s forest cover. The congress was organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) thru the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB).With Cimatu are ERDB Director Sofio Quintana (extreme left) and the book authors (L to R): Drs.
