The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of Cebu (PENRO CEBU) led a significant cleanup effort at Kinalumsan River near the SRP tower as part of the 2023 International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) celebration.
Volunteers from the community, including students and local residents, government agencies, youth groups, and other stakeholders, gathered to clean up the river, which had been polluted for a long time.
The collective efforts of these dedicated volunteers yielded astounding results, as they managed to remove a staggering 2,043 kilograms of waste, all carefully packed into 143 sacks.
A diverse group of participants, including agencies, organizations, volunteers, and stakeholders, were engaged in the event. This collective effort involved BFAR, NEDA, DENR (Regional Office, PENRO Cebu, & PA-CCPL TSPS, CRERDEC), LGU Cebu City, LBB Bikers Club, CCPO, AFP, PDEA, CONDUENT, Grand Legion Eagles Club, Grand Samaritan Eagles Club, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
The cleanup event at Kinalumsan River demonstrates that when people unite, they can have a significant environmental impact. The success of this cleanup effort serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the community, reaffirming the importance of protecting our natural resources for the benefit of current and future generations. It marks a stride towards a cleaner, more sustainable future for Cebu, serving as a reminder of our duty to safeguard natural resources for generations to come. #ICC2023 #CleanSeasForHealthyFisheries
