The culminating activity of the annual celebration of the 2021 Environment Month

has never been golden as DENR7 holds the first ever blended Gawad Tugas Awarding Ceremony last June 30, 2021 at the Marco Polo Hotel.

Gawad Tugas is an annual event that recognizes DENR’s partners with exemplary

performance in environmental protection, innovation and ingenuity.

The 6th Gawad Tugas awards consisted of the following categories: LGU-led Patent Program, Adopt an Estero Partner, Responsible Mining, Enforcement of Environmental Laws, Biodiversity Conservation and Management, National Greening Program, Clean Air and Water, and Solid Waste Management. Along with this, DENR7 gives out 15 special citations to different communities and groups that have helped the Department to effectively implement and disseminate activities and laws.

Incorporated with the theme “Sama-samang Pagkilos; Sama-samang Paghilom. Ikaw, Ako Tayo ang Kalikasan, DENR7 OIC Regional Executive Director Paquito D. Melicor Jr. mentions in his speech the importance of these partnerships especially in the continued efforts to improve conservation, protection, and rehabilitation of our natural resources. This goes along with contribution to help in the creation of a better environmental quality for a cleaner and healthier environment.

As a takeaway from the event, OIC RED Melicor reminds everyone in Cebuano, “Ikaw, Ako, Kita ang Kalikupan.”
