DENR 32nd Anniversary Celebration Coastal Clean-Up and Capacity Building

To mark the DENR 32nd Anniversary Celebration, DENR 7 officials and personnel led a coastal clean up along Angasil Port in Lapulapu City to encourage and raise public awareness on the importance of cleaning up the coasts making it free from trash especially of plastics and other non-biodegradable wastes. During the clean-up, all DENR 7 personnel collected more than 50 sacks of garbage turned-over to the Lapulapu City Government for proper disposal.

To encourage a stronger and more effective teamwork among DENR 7 Offices, DENR 7 conducted a capacity building activity in celebration of the department's 32nd Anniversary.

Led by DENR 7 Regional Executive Director Gilbert Gonzales, during the opening program, he urged all officials and personnel to build friendship and camaraderie to improve workplace productivity.


"It is important for each organization to conduct support employee trainings and skills development to cope with the needs of our clients. Building good office relationship and developing good communication channels is crucial to set clear objectives and get tasks accomplished effectively and efficiently," said Gonzales.


4th Central Visayas Solid Waste Management Summit

DENR Central Visayas key officials together with DENR Undersecretary for Solid Waste Management and Local Government Unit Concerns Benny D. Antiporda and local government executives officially open the 4th Central Visayas Solid Waste Management Summit with the theme: Beat Air Pollution “Managing Solid Waste towards a Pollution-Free Environment” at Ayala Activity Center, Cebu.

This year’s three-day DENR SWM summit aims to showcase the solid waste management best practices of local government units and recognize the best eco-friendly schools in the region.

Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary. OIWS is the country’s first wetland of international importance for waterfowl declared under RAMSAR. This wetland area is now a critical stopover for tens of thousands of migratory birds travelling the East Asian Migratory Flyway, one of the most important shorebird and water bird migratory flyways in the world.

Counting the gains of NGP. One of the most successful and remarkable milestones of National Greening Program (NGP) in Central Visayas is the established Coffee Plantations in San Pascual, Ubay, Bohol established in 2011 by the Ubay Federated Tree Planters Association, Inc. (UFTPAI).

As of today, UFTPAI native coffee is now marketed in Ubay and all other neighboring municipalities in Bohol.

Man-made Molave Forest. One of Siquijor’s pride, the reforestation site is one of the oldest in the country, established in 1937. This 202.15-hectare molave plantation is found in Salagdoong, Maria, Siquijor.

Nature’s Mystic Beauty. Lamanoc Island, Anda, Bohol. A newly discovered ecotourism destination in Bohol and is part of the Candijay-Anda-Mabini Mangrove Swamp Forest Reserve and Wilderness Area, a protected area managed by the DENR.
