DENR 32nd Anniversary Celebration Coastal Clean-Up and Capacity Building

To mark the DENR 32nd Anniversary Celebration, DENR 7 officials and personnel led a coastal clean up along Angasil Port in Lapulapu City to encourage and raise public awareness on the importance of cleaning up the coasts making it free from trash especially of plastics and other non-biodegradable wastes. During the clean-up, all DENR 7 personnel collected more than 50 sacks of garbage turned-over to the Lapulapu City Government for proper disposal.

To encourage a stronger and more effective teamwork among DENR 7 Offices, DENR 7 conducted a capacity building activity in celebration of the department's 32nd Anniversary.

Led by DENR 7 Regional Executive Director Gilbert Gonzales, during the opening program, he urged all officials and personnel to build friendship and camaraderie to improve workplace productivity.

 

"It is important for each organization to conduct support employee trainings and skills development to cope with the needs of our clients. Building good office relationship and developing good communication channels is crucial to set clear objectives and get tasks accomplished effectively and efficiently," said Gonzales.

Undersecretary Jim O. Sampulna meets with DENR-7 Officials

DENR Undersecretary for Enforcement and Muslim Affairs Jim Sampulna meet with the officials of DENR Region 7

"Implementation of environmental laws needs the support from other national government agencies, local government units, stakeholders and other partners. For DENR, we seek to organize an environmental body in the Regional, PENRO and CENRO offices who will serve as the front line in the protection of our environment natural resources," USEC Jim said during his brief visit in the DENR Regional Office 7.

He also tasked the DENR 7 Enforcement Division Chief Viernov Grefalde to initiate the formation of the regional body by inviting and collaborating with partner enforcement agencies such as PNP, Coast Guards, AFP including the local government units, private groups, people's organizations and the media people to address smuggling of wildlife species and other environmental crimes in the region.

"This will strengthen our efforts in the protection of our natural resources and with this initiative, we have high hopes that this would intensify our actions against environmental law violators. We will work alongside with our partners to effect the implementation of all environmental laws," RED Melicor added.

Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary. OIWS is the country’s first wetland of international importance for waterfowl declared under RAMSAR. As of today, UFTPAI native coffee is now marketed in Ubay and all other neighboring municipalities in Bohol.
